THE VENICE Simplon-Orient-Express, A Belmond Train, Europe, is set to embark on an unforgettable journey in 2026. Marking a new chapter of its Italian series, Villeggiatura by Train, the legendary midnight-blue carriages will make their first-ever voyage from Paris to the sun-drenched Amalfi Coast on 4 May 2026.

Following a scenic route through Italy, the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express will travel from Paris towards Pompeii, where guests will enjoy an exclusive stop, before continuing onward to Caruso, A Belmond Hotel, Amalfi Coast, located in the clifftop town of Ravello.

Venice Simplon-Orient-Express

The three-night journey begins with a Champagne welcome as guests settle into their chosen cabin. As day turns into night, guests are invited to indulge in a menu inspired by the regions along the route and sip cocktails accompanied by live piano music in the train’s iconic Bar Car ‘3674’.

Venice Simplon-Orient-Express

On 5 May, guests will wake up to sweeping views of the Italian hills before the train arrives in Pompeii after lunch. Here, they can disembark for a guided tour of the remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Site, while Grand Suite guests enjoy exclusive access to the rarely opened Casa del Larario Regio V. Alternatively, culinary enthusiasts can join an educational cooking class at Caruso led by Executive Chef Armando Aristarco.

That evening, the hotel hosts a poolside celebration honouring Cilento’s finest artisan food producers, complete with a live cooking demonstration beside the infinity pool, where the Mediterranean glimmers far below.

The following day invites exploration by land or sea – from a private boat tour to Positano, tracing the coastline’s hidden coves and turquoise waters, to a painting lesson with a local artist at Caruso’s Loggia terrace.

Amalfi Coast – Venice Simplon-Orient-Express

To commemorate the final evening, guests gather for a gala dinner in Caruso’s Wagner Gardens, beginning with an aperitivo followed by a fine-dining menu created by Chef Aristarco. Set against panoramic views of the Amalfi Coast and accompanied by live music, the evening provides a fitting finale to this remarkable escape.

Speaking about the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, General Manager Pascal Deyrolle added: “We are thrilled to introduce the Amalfi Coast to our Italian routes, continuing to connect our legendary train with our Belmond hotels. This journey offers guests a unique way to experience one of Italy’s most celebrated coastlines – with its cliffs, villages, and sea views revealed in a way that only the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express can provide.”

by Sophie Richardson

Prices for Villeggiatura by Train start from £8,600 per person based on two guests sharing on the Paris to the Amalfi Coast itinerary, including a shared Historic Cabin on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express and two nights in a Superior Garden View Room at Caruso. All itineraries include an overnight journey on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express (24h steward service; all meals with sommelier’s choice of wine and unlimited soft drinks), transfers, and excursions. AS THE days grow colder and the leaves gradually turn, sometimes all one needs is a bit of Mediterranean warmth to ward off the chill. Fortunately, art’otel London Hoxton’s new French Mediterranean restaurant, Solaya, is renowned for its flavour-led dishes, which capture the feeling of ‘sunshine on a plate’.

Solaya by Kenny Atkinson

Located on the 25th floor of the glamorous hotel, Solaya is helmed by Michelin-starred chef Kenny Atkinson, who has drawn upon his exceptional culinary experience to curate an exciting menu. Standout dishes include the tuna carpaccio, the rich bouillabaisse with lobster, the scallop crudo with heritage tomatoes, and the oven-roasted sole.

Alongside the food offerings, Solaya’s bar serves up handcrafted cocktails that complement the seasonal menu. From zesty orange spritzes to luxurious wines, the Solaya bar team will ensure that every sip feels as transportive as the cuisine itself.

Solaya by Kenny Atkinson

As his first solo restaurant in London, Atkinson, alongside design company Digital Space, has crafted a décor that matches the elevated level of the cuisine. Think: sweeping 360 views of East London, two open-air balconies, plush blue furnishings, and intimate table arrangements.

Speaking about the new restaurant, Atkinson said: “Solaya is an exciting project for me as my first solo venture in London and a chance to bring something truly special to the city. I’ve always been drawn to the warmth and soul of Mediterranean cooking, and Solaya is about capturing that feeling – sunshine on a plate, bold flavours, and food that brings people together.”

Solaya by Kenny Atkinson

Having just opened on 12 September 2025, Solaya marks a vibrant new chapter in London’s culinary landscape, one where sunshine-filled flavours meet skyline views.

THIS AUTUMN, the Victoria & Albert Museum has joined hands with Maison Ladurée to launch an exclusive macaron gift box.

Stylish, elegant, and fashionable, the new gift box honours the timeless style icon, Marie Antoinette. Drawn from the archives of the V&A, the box design has been inspired by 18th-century French fabric samples and features soft pastel hues intertwined with delicate floral motifs.

At the centre of the design sits a vignette of millinery, sourced from the Journal des Luxus und der Moden – one of the earliest fashion magazines and a testament to the era’s passion for style.

V&A x Maison Ladurée

V&A x Maison Ladurée

Inside the box, Marie Antoinette’s personal monogram gleams alongside her portrait by Jean-François Janinet, after the original painting by Gautier d’Agoty.

Beyond the exquisite packaging, the macarons themselves recall the queen’s celebrated taste for beauty and pleasure, each one a small homage to the artistry of French pâtisserie. The limited-edition gift box is also on view within the V&A’s exhibition Marie Antoinette Style, presented alongside a full-scale reconstruction of the pièce montée made famous in Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette film.

This collaboration offers not only sweet indulgence but a taste of history, elegance, and artistry, echoing the enduring world of Marie Antoinette.

by Sophie Richardson

A box of 27 macarons retails for £71. A shippable box of 16 macarons retails for £49. For more information or to purchase, please visit here or your nearest Ladurée boutique.

FEW PLACES on Earth are as idyllic as Prince Edward Island, Canada’s smallest province.

Prince Edward Island, also referred to as “PEI” by locals, is widely known as the home of Anne of Green Gables, but the island is just as celebrated for its iron-rich sandy beaches, endless lobster supply, clapboard cottages, and the warmth of its people.

We commence our adventure on the island with a stop at Mysa Nordic Spa & Resort – a serene resort nestled on the banks of St. Peters Bay. Boasting 18 acres of lush natural landscape, Mysa Nordic Spa & Resort is an excellent spot to absorb the surrounding wildlife and settle into island life.

Mysa Nordic Spa & Resort

This wellness destination harnesses the power of a fully renewable resource to power its spa facilities, which include various saunas, a eucalyptus steam bath, a cold plunge bucket, a relaxation room, and more. We set aside a few hours to drift between the spa’s amenities, letting the rhythmic cycle of heat and chill dissolve any tensions or worries.

Mysa Nordic Spa & Resort

Just a stone’s throw away from Mysa Nordic Spa & Resort is Greenwich Beach, one of Parks Canada’s most serene locations. Greenwich is home to the biggest parabolic sand dunes on Prince Edward Island, which play a crucial role in protecting the island from coastline erosion. Here, we enjoy a scenic hike and learn more about Greenwich’s important connections to Mi’kmaq and Acadian culture.

During the hike, it’s easy to notice an abundance of the violet wildflower known as Fireweed. Alongside goldenrod, this flower paints the natural landscape with blushes of colour, amongst other towering plants such as wild raspberries, sugar maple trees, blue-bead lilies, and much more.

As we wander along Greenwich’s meandering paths, the island’s quieter residents make themselves known. A chipmunk darts up a tree, pausing to eye us curiously before vanishing into the wilderness, while a beaver tends to its waterside den, leaving subtle ripples in the water adjacent to Greenwich’s floating boardwalk.

Taking a hike is an excellent way to destress; however, we also try forest bathing for even deeper relaxation. Nature Space Resort offers such experiences, where guests are guided on a tour through one of the resort’s verdant nature trails. Rooted in Japanese philosophy, forest bathing is a way to improve mental health and decrease stress hormone levels by moving through the woods at a slow pace.

Nature Space Resort

Prince Edward Island boasts an array of nature’s most delicate and fragrant plant life, much of which is incorporated into the island’s cuisine. To experience some of the island’s signature dishes, The Fireworks Feast at The Inn At Bay Fortune spotlights some of the local, authentic, organic produce. Spearheaded by Chef Michael Smith, the feast takes guests on a culinary journey with menu highlights including freshly caught oysters, seafood chowder, smoked beef brisket, and raspberry mousse.

For another authentic Prince Edward Island culinary experience, the casual, coastal dining destination, FiN Folk Food, does some of the island’s most famous lobster rolls. We dine at FiN Folk Food, then take a two-minute walk over to Harry’s Dairy Bar, where we enjoy some of the freshest soft-serve ice cream on the island as a post-lobster roll sweet treat.

Overlooking both Harry’s Dairy Bar and FiN Folk Food is The Hotel AcadiaBlackbush Beach Resort’s hospitality hub. Arriving at the hotel, a yoga class at The Space Movement Studio sets the tone for a relaxing afternoon, followed by a visit to the hotel’s hot tub and sauna. Blackbush Beach Resort is the newest coastal resort on Prince Edward Island, so expect all your favourite creature comforts when visiting here.

Blackbush Beach Resort

The next morning, we make our way to Charlottetown, the island’s bustling capital. Rich in history and culture, Charlottetown is an impressive city full of timeless landmarks, lively streets, and warm maritime charm. Cafés and oyster bars spill onto the sidewalks, their tables full of locals sipping coffees and exchanging greetings, while independent shops and local businesses offer glimpses into the island’s creative scene.

There are endless things to discover in Charlottetown. We explore what the city has to offer with a Secrets of Charlottetown walking tour, a lobster cruise led by Top Notch Charters, and a laid-back stroll admiring the local shops. One of the city’s historic landmarks is The Great George, a lovingly restored boutique hotel where 5-star heritage buildings meet contemporary refinement.

The Great George

It’s a fitting finale to our Prince Edward Island visit. From wellness retreats and windswept beaches to unique culinary experiences and cultural hotspots, Prince Edward Island reveals a timeless elegance that lingers long after you leave.

Rates for a King Waterview room at Mysa Nordic Spa & Resort start from around £202. To book, please visit here. Rates for a Deluxe King room at Blackbush Beach Resort start from around £265. WHEN it comes to summer holidays, the Swiss Alps may not be the first destination that springs to mind. However, a cosy hotel nestled amongst the Graubünden mountains may be about to change that.

Located in the charming village of Flims, Hotel Adula is a 4-star superior Michel Reybier hospitality destination. Boasting 93 rooms and suites, luxury dining destinations, and a 1,200 m2 spa, this seasonal hotel is an ideal spot for those eager to explore the surrounding wildlife and alpine landscape.

Hotel Adula

From the moment you walk into the lobby, the hotel feels like a home away from home. Plush furnishings, contemporary design, a crackling fireplace, and top-tier hospitality greet you with open arms. Having been recently renovated, the lobby and onyx bar blend modern elegance with enchanting warmth, offering a welcoming space to unwind after a day of travel or hiking.

The rooms are equally inviting. Raw wood panels adorn the space, creating an intimate alpine chalet atmosphere, balconies and windows offer sweeping vistas of mountains occasionally cloaked in clouds, and textural paintings decorate the walls, inviting guests to engage in a dialogue between nature, comfort, and craftsmanship.

Hotel Adula

Amongst the hotel’s sparkling amenities is Adula Kitchen & Bar, the hotel’s dining hotspot, where international and national dishes are carefully crafted. Here, the cuisine places a strong emphasis on locally sourced ingredients. Led under the expert guidance of Chef Domenico Zizzi, Adula Kitchen offers up refreshing light snacks, elevated classics, and seasonal chef d’oeuvres. If you’re lucky with the weather, you can also dine outside, taking in the distant view of sun-drenched snow-capped peaks.

As a seasonal hotel, Hotel Adula’s dining experiences change throughout the year. During the winter season, La MuñaMichel Reybier’s Japanese Peruvian fusion restaurant – opens its doors, attracting many guests with its tender teriyaki, fresh sashimi, and ceviche.

Just a stone’s throw from Adula Kitchen’s outdoor terrace is La Mira spa. Naturally, tranquillity and rejuvenation are central to Hotel Adula, inviting guests to enjoy the spa’s impressive amenities. With a sauna, outdoor saltwater pool, indoor pool, fitness suite, and more, this spa is fully equipped. So, when your body feels sore after trekking some trails or skiing the slopes, La Mira spa will ease and massage away any cramps and pains.

In terms of hiking trails, Flims has no shortage. For a relaxing and scenic walk, a visit to Lake Cauma is a must. This crystal-clear, cyan-blue lake is just 20 minutes from the hotel and can be easily reached by gondola, requiring minimal walking. Here, one can swim in the serene spring waters, rent a pedalo for the family, or enjoy a bite to eat whilst taking in stunning mountain views. Slightly further afield is Lake Cresta, another idyllic landmark, which is certainly worth a visit if you are exploring Lake Cauma.

Alternatively, for those looking to stretch their legs a bit more, a slightly longer hike leads out of Flims towards the breathtaking Rhine Gorge – often referred to as the Swiss Grand Canyon. Carved over millennia by strong currents, this natural wonder offers cinematic sights of cascading cliffs, lush forests, and the occasional glimpse of rare Alpine wildlife, including harmless grass snakes, so be careful where you step.

With its thoughtful balance of luxury and authenticity, Hotel Adula proves that the mountains aren’t just for winter escapes. After watching the molten sun set behind the peaks or enjoying a trip to the spa after a day of trekking, you may find yourself planning your next alpine getaway before you’ve even checked out.
